2023 Daihannya Ofuda Order
(NOTE: In our physical newsletter the the Ofuda letter dates were incorrect. The correct date is January 8 from 9:30 AM. We apologize for the confusion)
For 2023, the Soto Mission of Hawaii will be implementing a new process for ordering Ofuda packets for your family, in an effort to make things run smoothly and efficiently. The new Daihannya Ofuda will be distributed at our 2023 Daihannya Service on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at 9:30a.m. Each household should receive this NEW OFUDA PACKET (contents: 1 wooden kifuda, 2 paper ofuda, 1 car omamori, and 1 wallet omamori).
Below you will find your 2023 Ofuda packet order form. Please complete the form and return with payment by December 23, 2022. Once we receive your order form, we will begin to prepare your Ofuda order.
The names you list on the order form will be written onto the wooden kifuda. Donations for each Ofuda Packet is $40. Please include the number of additional paper ofuda, car omamori, and wallet omamori you would like to order on your order form. If you have any questions, please call the office at 808-537-9409.
We hope to see all of you at the 2023 New Year’s Blessing Service conducted especially for you, your family, and friends on January 8, 2023 at 9:30a.m. During this blessing service, Bishop Komagata, together with all Oahu Ministers, will recite the Daihannya-Kyo (Great Wisdom Sutra), and prayers are made for your family’s happiness, prosperity, good health, traffic safety, water safety at pool or beach, prosperity of your business, and well-being for everyone. Your Ofuda Packets will also be blessed during the service and then distributed to you upon completion of the service.
Please remember: the Soto Mission of Hawaii will not prepare your 2023 Ofuda packet until we received your Order Form and payment.
What’s in the Daihannya Ofuda Packet?

Pictured to the left are the contents of the new packet.
1. One (1) Daihannya Kifuda, made from wood & wrapped in paper. Placed on wall inside main entrance to home or business.
2. Two (2) Daihannya Ofuda, made from paper. Placed above doorway inside rooms of choice, such as bedrooms, family rooms, kitchens, offices, and even bathrooms. Additional ofuda available for $7 each.
3. One (1) Car Omamori. Placed in cars for traffic safety. Additional omamori- $10.
4. One (1) Wallet Omamori. Placed in wallets and purses. Additional omamori- $3.
